RICHMOND, Va. (November 18, 2025) The Virginia Lottery is excited to announce the winner of its first-ever Teachers’ Lounge Makeover promotion, created to celebrate and support Virginia’s hardworking educators.

Out of nearly 12,000 entries representing over 1,600 Virginia K–12 public schools, one lucky school was randomly selected to receive a refreshed teachers’ lounge valued at $7,500, courtesy of the Virginia Lottery and its partner, The Supply Room.

The winning school is Suburban Park Elementary in Norfolk, Virginia. This makeover will provide a comfortable and inviting space for teachers to relax and recharge, recognizing the vital role they play in shaping the future of Virginia’s students.

On November 14, representatives from the Virginia Lottery and The Supply Room visited Suburban Park Elementary to celebrate the win and begin planning the makeover with school leaders. The refreshed lounge is scheduled to be revealed in Spring 2026.

“We were so excited to see teachers using the space during our visit,” said Stacey Beardsley, Communications Manager at the Virginia Lottery. “It truly is an important spot for the schools’ teachers, admin and support staff. There is so much potential, and we can’t wait to get started!”

The Teachers’ Lounge Makeover promotion is part of the Virginia Lottery’s ongoing commitment to education through the Thank a Teacher program. Since 1999, the Lottery has contributed more than $14 billion to Virginia’s K–12 public schools.

“Virginia teachers go above and beyond every day, and we’re thrilled to give back in a way that makes their daily lives a little brighter,” said Virginia Lottery Executive Director Khalid Jones. “Congratulations to Suburban Park Elementary and thank you to all the educators who entered!”

There are even more opportunities for Virginia teachers and schools to get involved and win exciting prizes. The Thank a Teacher Art Contest is now open for entries, and we’re currently accepting requests for 2026 Thank a Teacher thank you notes to celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week in 2026.
