CLEVELAND, Ohio (December 9, 2025) – It’s the holiday season, and that means shoppers are looking for the perfect gifts for everyone on their list.

Ohio Lottery scratch-offs are a great choice for last minute gifts and stocking stuffers, but shoppers must remember lottery tickets are only for those age 18 and over.

No type of gambling is acceptable or safe for children.

Research finds when children are exposed to or participates in gambling at an early age they are more likely to develop a gambling problem later in life.

Gambling exposure can occur in a variety of ways, such as when a child receives a lottery ticket as a gift or participates in gambling activities with a parent or family member. This exposure is often facilitated by an adult who is likely unaware of the associated risks.

Bottom line, lottery tickets are not for kids. The Ohio Lottery encourages shoppers to keep age in mind when purchasing tickets as gifts.
