DORCHESTER, Mass. (June 30, 2026) – The Massachusetts State Lottery is celebrating 250 years of America’s independence with the launch of MA 250, a $5 ticket named in honor of Massachusetts’ contributions to our country’s founding.
“The Lottery is proud to offer a fun and exciting way for players to celebrate 250 years of freedom and opportunity,” said State Treasurer Deborah B. Goldberg, Chair of the Massachusetts State Lottery Commission. “This special ticket honors our nation’s history and the important role Massachusetts played in achieving independence.”
With the largest payout percentage for a $5 ticket in Mass Lottery history, the limited-edition MA 250 ticket offers cash prizes of $25, $50, and $250.
“We are thrilled to introduce this ticket to all of our players across the Commonwealth,” said Mark William Bracken, Executive Director of the Massachusetts State Lottery. “Massachusetts has always been a trailblazer in this country, so it’s very fitting that we honor this exciting milestone with such a monumental ticket. It’s truly a chance for our players to be a part of history.”
The game will have four Second Chance Drawings, with 600 $250 prizes awarded, as well as one Final Bonus Drawing with a top prize of $250,000. At the conclusion of the game, all eligible Second Chance entries for the MA 250 ticket will be included in a Final Bonus Drawing. In the Final Bonus Drawing, the Lottery will randomly select four participants from the Second Chance Drawing entries to attend a live event where one participant will win the top prize of $250,000 and the three remaining participants will each win a $10,000 prize.
The Mass Lottery will host pop-up events at historic locations across the state throughout the summer in celebration of the new scratch ticket launch, where free promotional tickets with a guaranteed win of either $1, $2, or $5 will be distributed to the public. Locations will be announced at a later date.
The upper portion of the ticket features a celebratory red, white, and blue fireworks display, highlighted by the official “MA 250” logo. Additionally, a “1776 Bonus” spot appears in the top-right corner of the ticket, reinforcing the game’s historical theme. If a player reveals a “1776” symbol in this special play area, they automatically win $250. The ticket’s scratch area showcases a dynamic nighttime scene of Paul Revere on his legendary ride, complete with his iconic lantern, set against a backdrop of historic tall ships.
MA 250 will be available for sale at Mass Lottery retailers across the state beginning Wednesday, July 1.
