Louisiana Lottery Corporation Transfers Over $194 Million to State’s Minimum Foundation Program for Fiscal Year 2026

BATON ROUGE, La. (August 27, 2026) – The 2026 fiscal year brought over $194 million to Louisiana’s Minimum Foundation Program (MFP), which dedicates its funds to K–12 public education; this is approximately $7.2 million higher than the initially budgeted $186.8 million, bringing the Lottery’s all-time state transfers to over $5.1 billion.

Revenue for the fiscal year hit $630,111,924, with a total of $194,031,414 being transferred to the state.

Fiscal year 2026 had plenty to celebrate: three multistate jackpots exceeded $1 billion; the April 29th drawing produced eleven $1 million-plus winning tickets in Louisiana alone; and the Lottery marked its 35th anniversary with a new family of games and several second-chance drawing opportunities — all contributing to the year’s success.

Since the Lottery began operations in 1991, more than $14.7 billion in revenue has been generated, primarily from ticket sales. Over $5.1 billion has been transferred to the state treasury for the MFP to support K–12 public education, representing about 35% of total revenue.

Retailers remain a key part of the Lottery’s success, earning a 5% sales commission on every ticket sale.
