How an ‘Impact Loop’ Is Reimagining Community Investment in Arizona

PHOENIX (August 3, 2026) When people think about the Arizona Lottery, they usually first think of the big jackpots,  sometimes followed by the vital funding we generate for our state, which in Arizona benefit programs that protect our environment, strengthen higher education, and support critical health services and fund economic development.

Those contributions are foundational to who we are as a Lottery. But alongside our work with long-standing state programs and statutory beneficiaries, the Arizona Lottery also partners directly with different local non-profits to make a targeted, immediate impact in Arizona communities.

A perfect example of what we call an investment loop is demonstrated by our 2026 partnership with State Forty Eight and the State Forty Eight Foundation.

By connecting what we do on the ticket side with how we give back, we’re creating a cycle where local support stays local every step of the way.

Through this connection, the investment loop takes shape:

  • Local Retailers: Independent retailers sell the tickets.

  • Local Players: Arizonans enjoy a game that celebrates their home state.

  • Local Non-Profits: Non-profit partners like State Forty Eight Foundation receive the backing needed to grant funding, offer workshops, and mentor rising local entrepreneurs.

The Ticket: Celebrating Local Identity with State Forty Eight

It starts on the surface with State Forty Eight. When you pick up a State Forty Eight Scratchers®  ticket, you’re holding a ticket crafted with Arizona pride, featuring an iconic Arizona brand that locals wear as a badge of honor.

By collaborating directly with State Forty Eight artists on ticket designs and co-branded gear, we bring authentic Arizona culture directly to our players. It’s a fun, visible way to celebrate our state—but it’s only the first half of the equation.

“When state organizations tap into authentic local culture, engagement stops feeling like a transaction and starts feeling like community," said Chris Rogers, Arizona Lottery Chief Marketing Officer.

Fueling Local Dreams with State Forty Eight Foundation Funding

Here is where the loop closes. Through our $50,000 partnership with the State Forty Eight Foundation, we channel our community support into the foundation of Arizona’s economy.

State Forty Eight Foundation works directly with local entrepreneurs, creators, and small business owners through grants, business education, and hands-on mentorship. They are in the room with the next generation of Arizona founders, helping them turn passion projects into thriving businesses.

Hands-On Partners, Real Impact

We love working with non-profits that have real, hands-on relationships with Arizonans.

State Forty Eight and its foundation don't just operate here—they live and breathe the local community. They show up to neighborhood events, lead practical workshops, and talk face-to-face with the makers driving Arizona forward.

Working alongside our state beneficiaries and grassroots non-profit partners allows us to support Arizona at every level—from large-scale state initiatives down to the local entrepreneur launching their first shop.

When you scratch local, you support local and help grow local.

That’s our investment loop in action—and we’re proud to build it alongside partners who love this state as much as we do.
