BERN, Switzerland (September 17, 2025) – During the EL General Assembly on 17 September in Bern, Switzerland, members re-elected Romana Girandon as President and appointed a new Executive Committee for the period 2025-2027.
”I am deeply honoured to be re-elected as EL President. The unanimous vote confirms the trust in our shared societal purpose and the strong commitment of European lotteries to gaming that gives back to society. I sincerely thank EL members for their confidence in me to lead our Association for another mandate. Together with a strong and experienced Executive Committee, we will ensure that lotteries lead the debate at the European level and proactively shape a future that benefits both our sector and the societies we serve. ” - Romana Girandon, EL President
The General Assembly took place on the occasion of the 12th EL Congress in Bern, Switzerland. This year’s theme - “Building a Better World” - acted as a clear reminder that lotteries are and always will be a force for public good, where we need to continue to defend and protect the European lottery model. EL brings together 70 lotteries from 40 European countries, employing 55,600 people, which in 2024 raised 23.4 billion EUR for societal causes.
