The Virginia Lottery Is Giving Away Two Teachers' Lounge Makeovers for Educators
RICHMOND, Va. (September 8, 2026) – The team that brings you the award-winning Thank a Teacher program is back with its popular promotion. Together with The Supply Room, the Virginia Lottery is excited to announce the second annual Teachers’ Lounge Makeover, a fun way to say thanks to those who give their all every day in Virginia’s K-12 public schools.
Now through October 6, 2026, anyone 18 or older (teachers, staff, parents, and community members) can enter a favorite K-12 public school in Virginia for a chance to win a refreshed teachers’ lounge, worth $10,000. Lounges at the two winning schools will receive new furniture and supplies, making them cozy, creative spots for educators to relax and recharge.

It’s simple to enter. Head to www.thankateacherva.com/teacherslounge, pick your K-12 public school, and complete the entry form. Soon, your favorite team of educators could have a space designed just for them. The drawing is October 7, 2026.
“Teachers and school staff give so much of themselves every day for Virginia’s students, and they deserve to know how much we appreciate what they do,” said Virginia Lottery Executive Director Kevin Hall. “The Virginia Lottery has a big role in supporting K-12 education—more than $15 billion since 1999—but programs like this give us a chance to say thank you in a more personal way. We’re excited to team up with The Supply Room again to give two schools a teachers’ lounge where educators can take a breath, recharge and feel appreciated.”
Last year’s winning school, Suburban Park Elementary in Norfolk, received a new couch and refrigerator as well as new tables, chairs, greenery, and cabinetry. The lounge was also enhanced with canvas wall photos of meaningful artwork created by winning students of the Thank a Teacher Art Contest.
All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 public education in Virginia. In Fiscal Year 2026, the Lottery generated more than $914 million for K-12 education, making up approximately 10 percent of Virginia’s total K-12 school budget.
