As the Duluth District Manager, Sonar Alexander stands as one of the top rising leaders within the Georgia Lottery. Her leadership, commitment to personal and customer excellence, and her efficiency-focused mindset make her an invaluable team member and an exceptional candidate for the Ott Brown Scholarship.
Sonar's leadership style reflects her ability to balance operational efficiency with an unwavering commitment to delivering the highest standard of customer service. Constantly seeking innovative ways to streamline processes, enhance sales representative performance, and elevate the player experience, she has guided her team to achieve and exceed sales goals.
Leading the Georgia Lottery's Duluth District, the busiest district office in the state, Sonar implemented systems that ensure claims are processed quickly, securely, and with great care. Through enhanced training and one-on-one employee engagement, Sonar has cultivated a staff that is both confident and empowered. She developed and implemented comprehensive training initiatives focused on claims processing and customer service excellence. Equally committed to business-to-player relationships, Sonar prioritizes open and honest conversations with players about their experiences, preferences, and concerns. These programs have enabled office staff to make informed decisions within claims payment guidelines and empowered sales representatives to take appropriate action with underperforming retailers in alignment with GLC standards and goals.
Beyond team development, Sonar ensures that her sales representatives are equipped with impactful promotional tools. From giant checks that celebrate major winners to smaller checks that highlight everyday wins, she understands the value of recognizing players and strengthening retailers' local credibility. Recognizing the district office as a pivotal step in the prize payment process, Sonar has also strengthened cross-department communication between the Duluth office and the prize validation department. Together, they have streamlined processes, reduced turnaround times for prize payments, and ensured that customers experience a swift, secure, and reliable claims journey, further safeguarding the credibility of the Georgia Lottery as a trusted organization.
Sonar is as dedicated to her own development as she is to the growth of her team. She leads by example, modeling continuous learning and professional excellence. Transitioning through six different positions since 2000, from Retailer Services Representative to District Manager, Sonar's performance and potential is evident to all. Attending the NASPL Lottery Leadership Institute will provide transformative opportunities for her to deepen her expertise, exchange ideas with peers across the industry, and bring back valuable knowledge that will benefit not only her team but the Georgia Lottery and the broader industry.
