Ohio Lottery Sales Generate $1.49 Billion for Education

CLEVELAND (July 27, 2026) – The Ohio Lottery is proud to announce a $1.49 billion contribution to the Lottery Profits Education Fund, which supports K through 12, vocational, and special education programs in Ohio. 

The Lottery generated $4.4 billion in traditional lottery sales in FY 2026 with players taking home nearly $3 billion in prizes. 

Daily draw games—Pick 3, Pick 4, and Pick 5—reached $749.8 million with Pick 4 and Pick 5 sales up $2.5 million and $2.2 million respectively over the previous year.

KENO™ continued to be popular with players as the category grew in FY 2026. Sales reached $631.9 million, an increase of $5.7 million over the previous year. 

Ohio Lottery Scratch-Offs accounted for $2.36 billion in sales. 

“We’re proud of this year’s $1.49 billion contribution to education which was achieved thanks to the dedication of our staff, retailers, vendor partners, and enthusiastic lottery players. We face a challenging gaming landscape with multiple entertainment options available to Ohioans, and we continue to look for ways to be innovative and meet players where they are.” Ohio Lottery Director Michelle Gillcrist said.   

The multi-state game category, which includes Mega Millions®, Powerball®, and Millionaire for Life™ (formerly Lucky for Life) reached $384 million in sales. Stronger Powerball sales helped offset a drop in Mega Millions sales, which declined due to the absence of large jackpots.

Ohio Lottery players won nearly $3 billion in prizes. There were 39 winners of $500,000 and 30 new millionaires created, including a $60 million Mega Millions jackpot winner and the first jackpot winner of Millionaire for Life which launched in February.    

Total net win from video lottery terminals (VLT) was $1.46 billion, an increase of $65.4 million over the previous fiscal year, which resulted in total profit of $490.5 million from VLT games.  

All figures are preliminary and unaudited. Audited figures are expected to be released in October.
