Graphic Designer, Minnesota Lottery

In the past year, the Minnesota Lottery’s Creative Services department abruptly went from three graphic designers to one designer due to staff changes. Megan Kleinschmidt stepped up and volunteered extra hours each week over a period of six months to fill the gap. She produced materials for in-store POP production, social media, website, and app content. While covering the day-to-day work of three designers, she also was responsible for creating an attractive, cohesive design for a new State Fair building, where she exceeded expectations and found new ways to positively represent the lottery brand to more than 1.9 million visitors.

Her manager stated that it was not only Megan’s willingness to put in additional hours that was impressive, but she showed next level thinking and strategy. Her approach was to work efficiently, make the content work harder to accomplish Marketing’s goals, and find creative solutions to Creative Services’ job requests.

Throughout those months, Megan maintained a calm and positive outlook, and generated top-notch work. Her dedication ensured that product launches went smoothly and materials were produced on time to push sales at retail. With over 18 years of excellent service at the Lottery, and her exceptional job performance during a staff shortage, Megan is very deserving of the Powers Award for her significant contributions to the MN lottery.
